Posted April 11th, 2010 by admin

Does anyone know how to get dogs to sleep together in the same bed..which is my queen bed lol…every time i let them out all they wanna do is play fight and they never stop! I just want them to be able to basically roam the house and everything without having them wreck the whole house if you know what i mean.

Walk them more, a daily walk is needed, tire them out. Dogs bond on walks and that might help them get along better.

I have quite a few dogs that lay on the bed together. Of course, there isn’t a lot of wiggle room for me. When the dogs are tired, they lay down almost anywhere and usually enjoy being up on the bed the most. As for roaming the house without destroying things take time and perseverence. If you can start them in only one room that doesn’t have anything in it they can destroy and work up to the entire house when they get the idea that destroying the house is not appropriate.

I had to get a king size bed so we could all fit, husband, me and the 3 dogs. 2 labs and 1 black mouth cur) 2 are 1 year old and one is 12. The puppies love to play in bed so, I leave them in the yard as long as possible before bed so when they do come in they will sleep. If it rains and they’re unable to go outside for an hour they still go to bed but I just tell then to stop a few times till they fall asleep. They will listen you just have to use your "serious voice" or separate them. (one puppy by my husband, the other by me). My dogs also roam the house, I make sure I leave lots of toys around to keep them happy.

I think you need to find another energy outlet for your dogs. They need a more positive way to burn off their energy that won’t wreck your house.

You don’t say what kind of dogs. Are they like a Jack Russel Terrier? They never stop.

I walk my dogs then feed them about an hour before I go to bed. Then they can play and get exhausted and finally they crash after a while.

That’s when to go to bed. :O)

I’m confused by your question. You say you want them to sleep in your bed but you want them to be able to roam the house? I’m confused. And where are you letting them "out" from? If it is from a crate and they have been in there for long periods of time of course they are going to do these things. If you want them to do more productive things with their time, teach them how to play fetch. Dogs love fetch. Also, just play with them. If you’re saying you don’t want them to wreck your house anymore while you are away at work or school or elsewhere, get them entertaining toys to focus on instead of your valuables. Pet stores sell a toy called a "Kong". You can fill it with treats and then the dog must work to get the treats out! It is very entertaining for them and will keep them working at it for hours! If I am understanding your question right, if you let them out to play during the day and train them to play with their toys and not your personal belongings, they will most likely be calm and tired by night time and then they will be happy to sleep with you in your bed throughout the night. Good luck to you and have fun!
