Okay.
My back has been hurting these last few nights which has lead me to take my mattress pad off, fold it in half and camp on my floor for the rest of the night, that of corse after a fistful of pills. It works enough that I sleep until its time for classes.
So yesterday, I disassembled my bed, which was a futon frame, it was starting to fold in the middle causing me to taco in the middle. Which I assumed was the problem. Now bed on floor, bed is actually a curiously heavy futon mattress. With a foam mattress pad. It still curves slightly in the middle, but after the big move and disassemble, I had an amazing nap on it. It seems this back pain only happens at night. Its seldom in my lower back but is in my upper back across my shoulders and down. Also, the dog could be assisting in funny sleep positions, he seems to think that the bed is his.
How do I make this better? I would really like to sleep.
Thank you for the suggestions – but the option to get a bed is minimal. Unless a) one is donated (aka free) b) its delivered… highly unlikely. I fall under the happy to have a roof over my head, and eat once a day for an expensive college education.
I will look into yoga, my mom raves about it.
I also do riding, which causes me to fall into a state of unconsciousness after.. which is nice. (breaking in a young horse, lots of up and down. Haven’t been thrown yet though)

maybe you need a different proper mattress? if it only happens you sleep.. then something about your sleeping position is aggravating your back.
go see a chiropracter for a professional take of course. specially if the pain is bad.
if it’s not the futon.. (i say keep sleeping on floor… ) well chiropractor would help find what might be wrong. could be posture during the day.. could be something more serious.
yoga helped ALOT with my back problems (though my problems were lower back… having fallen off horse several times and landing on lower back hard enough that i heard a crack). yoga helps alot with back problems.. you could also look into getting a back massage.. it might your your back muscles going funny…
good luck!

It isn’t the fault of the mattress, the problem is in your back. You have muscles that are pinched and the sleeping on what you do makes them come out to be found. Once you release your muscles it shouldn’t matter what you sleep on for as long as there aren’t any pinched muscles to begin with there can’t be any pain. Here’s how to release the muscles:
Back:
(do from a sitting position)
Place your left hand on your left leg next to your body. Place your right hand over your left shoulder and find the muscles next to your spine and press on them and hold. After 30 seconds slowly lower your body forward, keeping your left arm fairly straight as you do. When you reach your lap remain there for another 10 seconds, release the pressure but remain there for another 30 seconds. Then reverse your hand positions and do your right side.
