Clicker training?

Posted January 30th, 2012 by admin

I’ve been wondering for a while now, whether to try out clicker training on my mare

Is there any possible way that bad habbits can develop from it? will it affect the horses/dogs nearby in any way?

Has anyone out there tried? Does it work?

I don’t want to do it…but that’s just me. Others swear by it.

Never tried it with horses. I know it works with dogs though.

I have heard of it, it is using a clicker noise to reward your horse for good behaviour, I read an article in a magazine and it was awesome the things that the horse could do.

There is no way something like that could hurt your horse, its just a way of rewarding them for good behaviour.

I have seen several crazy horses from that method. I am EXTREMELY reluctant to break a horse it has been used on. Definitely a no go for me.

I’ve never used the method personally, but I have heard many wonderful success stories regarding the method & no negative ones. Don’t expect immediate results. I believe it absolutely works, but as with any new training method, you’ll need to be consistent & patient.
