I have a 3 month old girl black lab. I have to go to work monday-friday. I work from 8 am to 3 pm. She is housebroken, so I don’t make her go in her kennel usually during the day. I always fill one of her toys with peanut butter to keep her entertained during the day. After I get home from work, I will take her for a 1 hour run.(3-4 miles) Then I throw a tennis ball to her in the yard for about 30 minutes. I do that everyday except monday and wednesday…(those days i have to do something else.) I will do it 7 out 7 days in the winter usually, since i have nothing going on then. Then I feed her, by that time in is 5ish. I last fed her right before I went to work. Then we will watch TV. (Well actually she just kind of lays on me. Sometimes then I will invite a friend over, she kind of just follows us a round then. I usually go to bed at 9:15 and I will let her lay with me. I try to do that cycle every week, but sometimes I have a date with a girl, plans with friends…etc. etc….so do you think I treat her good? (By the way I am a 20 year old guy and i live by myself)
ChiLady…I am having her trained right now and she is doing great at it. After the classes, she gets to interact with other puppies. On the walk, she see’s other dogs and they will check each other out and stuff. My girlfriend just moved out of her parents house and is going to get a male Newfoundland puppy and I am going to invite her over and tell her to bring her pup because mine loves other dogs.
And i have gotten her spayed.
Do you think I am treating my dog good?

Most 20 year old guys that I know don’t even take that good of care of themselves xD So I’d say you’re doing great. The only thing I’d say is to make sure that she’s getting used to meeting other dogs and socialized at such a young age.

For a 20 yr old bloke living on your own then you don’t do a bad job really do you.
What about when you go out to parties or pubs & clubs then.
8.00 am to 3.00pm is long enough, but not too bad in my opinion.

It sounds like you love her alot and take good care of her–and that is wonderful! Does she get to meet and play with any other dogs when you go out for walks?
Have you thought about having her spayed? It really is a smart and good thing to do for her and for you. It will keep her from going into heat, and will save her from any chance of getting certain types of cancer.
If you contact the SPCA you can get a voucher for half price, which is what I did. best wishes to you and your girl lab!

I have a question for you… why in the world do you have any question about how you are treating your dog?! LOL! You are treating your dog great. Heck, I know people who wish their b/f or g/f treated them 1/2 as good as you treat your dog. You are doing great, I just with everyone treated their pet with such love and respect!

Your dog has it *made* compared to a lot of dogs.
The fact that you’re a 20 year old single guy & you are so conscious of making sure to include your dog in your daily routine shows a great ability to commit to something & be responsible. A lot of guys (and ladies) your age are too self-absorbed and worried about "parties" and their social life to even think about taking proper care of a dog.
Your dog gets out & exercises, has plenty of social interaction….and if you’re not seeing behavior problems- chewing, barking, etc….I would say it means your dog is happy, healthy & well-adjusted.

I see connotations of abuse and you need to be reported to P.E.T.A.
Anyway,it seems as though this puppy is becoming adjusted to her surroundings and is doing just fine and enjoys your company.
I heard that when dogs, cats blink both eyes at you, they are telling you that they love you.Every now and then ,do the same just so she knows that you love her too.
