Do you use pet laundry detergent?

Posted April 12th, 2010 by admin

I’m getting an English Bulldog puppy soon and I’m trying to get everything in place. I was wondering is it better to use special pet laundry detergent (i.e. Ecos, Nature’s Miracle, Pet Laundry) or regular laundry detergent (i.e. Tide, Cheer, Surf) to wash his bedding in?

I wouldn’t waste money on a special detergent.

My dogs all tolerate the Kirkland that I use for us just fine. If he is sensitive, as some EB’s can be, I’d try a dye and fragrance free human soap before I’d pony up for the pet store brands. Of course, if that’s what he needs, then that’s what he needs.

    Congratulations on your new friend!

I use the regular people stuff.

I use regular detergent…either Tide or All. I have washed his bedding in them. Also, he will sleep with us on the bed and the detergent washed sheets don’t seem to bother him.

I would however check with your vet once you get your pup to make sure there are no skin conditions you need to worry about. If he had a skin condition you would probably want the pet safe soaps then.
