Your first step should be to set up an appointment with your Veterinarian. He may have a medical problem, like a Urinary Tract Infection. If he does, then it can be cleared up with medication. If your veterinarian does not find any health problems, then you might have to just give him a refresher course on Potty Training.

maybe he has some kind of bladder infection and can’t hold it

Added: Maybe out of spite since you’ve been busy lately and haven’t had the same amount of time for him I’ve had dog do this before to me when lifestyles get hectic as they do sometime I just got them a crate for when I’m out the house or keep him where its tiled flooring so your carpet doesn’t get ruined

My lab does the same thing and she is 2 years old, I just pulled up the carpet and she knows better, she can go outside whenever she wants, I told her yesterday her butt was going to stay outside. The carpet was pissed all over, I just took a razor and started cutting. I have been going outside with all 3 dogs before I go to bed and they seem to take care of business, but I really don’t feel like standing to wait for them to take care of business. We had another lab and he pissed all over the couch and TV, never could break him, he passed away 2 years ago, but both dogs was house broken. Good luck
