I think my Dog may be hurt… Help please?

Posted May 16th, 2010 by admin

I got home this afternoon and noticed she kept hiding. She came out from under my sofa to greet me then she went back (not usual) she usually hangs around me or my daughter, lays on her bed etc. I also noticed she can’t sit all the way down or lay down plus when I tried to look at her backside touching her lightly she flinched and let out a yelp in pain. As we speak she is hiding, seems like she wants to be left alone. I’m worried, I also saw a couple of scabs, like maybe something bit her, not sure if any of this is related, I think she may be injured ….I wanted to take her to the vet tonight but my BF took my car to work, I am freaking out! I hope she’s ok and I’m overreacting. I’ve had this puppy over 3 years. She’s a little Chihuahua Min-Pin Mix. Any advice will help, thanks in advance people.
Thanks guys, no she doesn’t go outside she stays inside all day.My BF is here during the day while he bbsits our baby. I’m trying to call people to get a ride…
Just spoke with my brother, he’s giving us a ride.

May be an empacted anal gland, small dogs don’t have the strength to express them theirselves and a human has to do it for them. Sounds like it is going to rupture (if that is what is wrong) try putting warm compresses on it and if it does rupture you will have a mess to clean up but the pain will be over. If not ruptured by time car is back then take to a vet and have them express the glands and show you how to do it. If she is in as much pain as you are saying the vet will probably lance it, (if that is what is wrong.

Call someone and have them drive you to the vet right away. No sense having her suffer because tou don’t have a car

You answered your own question. Take her to the vet. Ask someone with a car to drive you there.

I’d see if she’s okay tomorrow, and if she’s not I’d take her to the vet.

    Hello,

i recommend taking her to the vet, as she is small it will be easy for you to take her, she might have injured her back so when putting her in the car pick her up carefully to place her in.

i really hope i helped. :D GOOD LUCK!!

May be a problem with her back or a disc in her back. She needs to be seen by a vet. without an examination there is no way to tell what the problem is.

You really should take your little buddy to the vet. It sounds like only they can help her at this point. Don’t put it off, or it may get worse.

If she wont let you touch her and is hiding she is either sick or hurt. Get someone to take you to your car and let your boyfriend find a way home.
Take a cab if you have to.

She’s defiantly in pain, lots of dogs will hide when they are hurt. If at all possible i would call a friend or family member to give you a ride to the vet. It MIGHT be okay until tomorrow but it could be a risk and it wouldn’t be fair to leave her in pain all night (she’s likely in a lot of pain if she is hiding). If you can’t get a ride you may be able to call your local SPCA emergency line and see if an officer will pick you up and take you to a vet clinic (our shelter sometimes did that…might depend on where you live though.)

do u let her out of ur backyard while u r gone? there is a chance that maybe a bike hit her across the hips and ran away. Maybe a raccoon attacked her. its also possible that she is uncoordinated and just hurt herself on a corner or something. And if u dont think that ever happens, my tiny poodle fell in the deep end of the pool in December and i had 2 dive in and save him. And guess what? hes just clumsy. but if u lightly touch her, there is prolly a broken bone.. take her 2 the vet.

Oh I’m sorry to hear that your dog’s in pain , call a friend and ask them if they would mind driving you there. I’d advise taking your daughter with you so she’s not alone in the house by herself (: As a mom, your probably know this . She most likely got bitten by prams . Their ant’s that live in houses and they’re really big. My puppy recently got bittern by 3 of them, and our vet said it was very common. But it might be something else, so get to that vet asap! good luck.
