So this is the very first dog I’m getting, a Yorkshire Terrier to be exact. I’ll list the things I’ve gotten so far, things I plan on getting, and I need help on what type of dog treats to get.

here are the supplies I have so far:
- Kennel/Crate
- Kennel/Crate linning
- Blanket
- Collar
- Harness
- "puppy" harness (i couldn’t help it, i had extra cloth left over… this was supposed to be a chew toy :O)
- nylon leash
- flexi-leash
- small rope toy
- food bowls
- dog food (Brandon Farm’s Natural)
- teddy bear
- x-small AirKong Squeakers (x-mini squeaking tennis balls)
- Mini Chuckit! tennis balls
- Training Pads
- dog bed (later for when it grows up it won’t have to sleep in the crate)
- nail clipper
- shampoo
- frizbee
- this shirt thing im going to get around to making XD
- Comb
- Purina Beggin Strips (x3)
- Milkbone medium-sized bones (original ima break these in half)
- I.D. tag
- Milkbone Fillet Mignon Chewies
- Clippers
- some extra accesories… (from the leftover cloth XD)
Here is a list of what I still need to get:
- Puppy Kong small
- Nylabone (the three pack bone chews)

I’m sorry if i seem a little excessive. XD. But this is my first dog and I want to make sure I’m prepared. I’m going to take Lorelei (my dog) to this nearby pet clinic for her shots, and I have a couple of friends with dogs who’ll introduce me to their vet.
If you don’t have anything nice to say… well I’ll leave it at that.

So…. if I’m missing anything, any treat suggestions, I would love to hear :]
The food is all natural, no meat by-products, wheat, corn meal, or soy… it took me an hour to find a suitable brand! It doesn’t even have food coloring :o

I want to breed my dog… but I’m not sure… so i’m still debating on whether or not to spay her yet…

i’ll keep "put harness on before opening car door" in mind too. yikes i wouldn’t want her to run away on the first day

btw thanks for the comments <3
styptic powder…
toothbrush…
toothpaste…
clean-up bags….

list updated!

Congratulations. You sound very prepared. I remember going through this with my first dog (I’m considering a 3rd dog at this time and it is still exciting). Just a couple pieces of advice. First, you can use the crate liners, but get up a couple time each night for the first couple nights and take her out to go pee. You can cut down on the number of times gradually. Dogs do not like to sleep where they have peed and she needs to learn to control herself or she will HATE the kennel–just like you would if you were her. She’ll learn fast. Second, I would consider a good quality dog food. At least Science Diet and that is not nearly the best out there. It will make a huge difference in her overall health. Lastly–no raw hide or cooked bones. Try to find a local butcher or pet shop that will sell you raw bones. They are the best and pose no danger to the dog. They don’t splinter and they are very healthy for the teeth. Enjoy! What an exciting time.

Sounds like you’ve got it ALL covered!!

Kudos to you for being soooo prepared!!!

    Looks good.

By the way… I would scrap the training pads except to line the crate. You need to outright start teaching your dog to pee outside.

The harness is good… so many small dogs have slipped their collars and ran away. By the way, put the harness and leash on BEFORE you open the car door. New dogs get loose that way too.

Only other issue I see is the food. I haven’t heard of that type of food. As long as the first 5 ingredients aren’t corn meal and meat byproducts, you’re good.

Finally, goes without saying, but the dog should be spayed when she reaches 6 months of age.

Good lord did you leave anything in the pet shop…LOL
Remember to buy food specialy designed for baby puppy small breed.
Take your baby to a puppy socializing class….check through your ve for where they are.
Small breeds NEED these classes and keep up the socializing with walks and visits to your local pet park/play area.

Honestly you went overboard, but that just means you are ready and care for the little pup. Good luck!!

all that stuff means nothing if you dont have the time or space for a dog!
but other than that,,you sound so ready!

sounds like you have almost everything – i do have one suggestion and that is a toothbrush and toothpast. start early with brushng her teeth and she will be fine as she gets older with you brushing them.

I’d find a vet before I’d take her to a clinic – that way he will know what shots have been given and what still need to be given and he will know your dog from the first day you get her. good luck with your new pup and enjoy her.
