If the bedding involves some sort of hard wood shavings, do NOT use it.

The shavings can seriously harm the ferret’s feet, and not to mention it would be awfully uncomfortable for the ferret.

My ferret’s cage has flat-bottomed floors, so all I do is toss in some cut up blankets/shirts and they’re perfectly fine.
Not to mention it’s very easy to clean because all you have to do is toss the blankets and shirts in the washer.

Litter train her! Both of mine started their litter training as soon as I brought them home. You just need a small litter pan and some cat litter (you can use newspaper-based litter if you are concerned about her respiratory tract). I line the rest of the cage in newspaper (several layers) so it can be folded and thrown out easily. I then clean the cage with a environmentally friendly cleaner and wipe it down with a towel before lining it with newspaper and putting the clean litter box back.

Every time she wakes up, put her in her litter pan. She’ll get the idea. Never yell at her if she makes a mistake. Just clean it up or put the poo back in her pan. They are very smart and learn fast. Good luck!
