I searched on here for answers and everyone says its a female in heat or one guy was constantly giving it treats and spoiling it, or its got a problem. Its a male, he’s perfectly fine, he always has a full bowl of food and access to water, litter box is clean, he can’t be bored because he’s always playing with the dog and dog toys. The only time hes quiet is when he is sleeping or im holding him! I let him in my room at night, he sits on my bed and meows. I let him out, he sits at my door scratching it and meowing. He sits on the side of the tub and meows while i shower and go to the bathroom. Sits at the door meowing while I let the dog out and until I get home. I can’t fall asleep, and when I do he wakes me up hourly, and then in the morning. I can’t study or read or anything! I counted it once while i was standing right next to him and he meowed 18 times in 30 seconds! Is there anything in the world I can do? BTW, hes not afraid of water, vacuums, pillows throw at him, anything a normal cat would run from hell just sit there… Hes adorable and well behaved aside from all the talking, and he wasn’t cheap either ![]()
Its a ragdoll, about a year old, and hes been doing it the whole time but is getting more persistent…
And I do close him out of the room all night, and he sits there all night every night non-stop meowing. I don’t get how he isn’t loosing his voice or passing out eventually…
My cat won't shut up! Is there anything I can do?

Its a common thing in cats. They want you to play with them 24 hours a day. I think you should get him another cat to play with and maybe he’d leave you alone, or try a water bottle and squirt him when he dose it.

Okay heres what I suggest
Ive done it before you just got to learn to not back down when it gets bloody…
btw If you dont like blood
you can drown it in water
Ive also done that its very affective

you don’t say what breed of cat you ahve got. If He is a Siamease then yhat is what they do. they are very vocal cats devoted to their human carers. When I first got my kitten he was meowing all the time as well and he wouldn’t shut up. You have to set boundries and rules with your new kitten and start doing it now before he is too old to learn. I started not allwoing him into my bedroom and making him sleep in his bed in the kitchen. It took a coupe of nights for him to settle down and stop meowing but it worked. When he meows for attention and you are busy doing something else then pick him up and shut him out of the room. I know that that sounds a bit harsh but as long as he has access to a litter tray and food and water then he will be ok. Make sure that you bring himin at the first avalible oppotunity though and praise himm and tell him what a good cat he is. Oh but only brimg him in if he has stopped meowing that way he will have learnt that if I keep meowing for no reason then i wil get ignored, If I don’t meow unless I really need something then he will learn, Thats what I did with my cats and it worked. I hope that has been some help.

A couple of questions for you. How long have you had this cat? How old is it? Is this meowing behavior something that just started or has the cat done it the whole time you have had it. And lastly – is the cat Siamese or a siamese mix?
If the cat is young, it might out grow the meowing. That is how they call to mom. If the behavior is new and came out of nowhere, I would suggest a trip to a vet. Any sudden change in behavior should be checked out for a medical cause first because cats rarely show signs of an illness that we can see until they are rather sick. If he is Siamese or a siamese mix, he is just going to do that. Siamese cats are often very vocal. He is just talking to you and you will have to get used to it.

I smile!
There is a new cat (actually he’s been there a year!) who was brought to the barn because his previous owners could not stand his constant talking!!
I’ve owned cats (sometimes up to nine as I also did rescues) and I always had one who "talked"….but not like this cat!! I love him!
I come in and he starts talking, he walks with me out to the field, talking, walks back to the barn, talking. The whole time I groom and saddle he talks!! Constantly-I can’t get a word in edgewise!! I ride in the arena and he sits on the wall and talks the whole damn time!!
I ride in the field and stays at the barn and talks until I’m out of earshot-I’m sure he doesn’t stop because I hear him before I see him when I return!
In the barn I actually put him in front of me in the saddle once-he was quiet for about one walk around then he figured out how he could turn his head around and look at me…so he could talk!!
His name is Murphy and he now loves to stay atop my supply closet-then he’s quiet!! He meows just to say hi and goes back to sleep! But yup the only time he’s quiet is when he’s sleeping or I’m cuddling him!! I know he annoys a lot of the other people-but he’s too aggressive with other cats so I can’t bring him home!! He loves my dog though! If I’m to preoccupied and don’t talk to him–he starts talking to the dog and following the dog around!! Sorry don’t have an answer but I sure understand where you are coming from!! Truthfully I don’t know if I would want to change a cat who talked. It’s a part of their personality-I’ve just learned to ignore it-Oh my cat who talks to me at home is now in the computer room and you guessed it– he’s talking up a storm!!
He also does this when I go to sleep and I just pet him until he falls asleep and then we’re both happy!
