I’m looking for a site where I can find good deals on dog beds/crate mats. Between two puppies and an adult border collie, we need some beds for them, and moneys a bit tight. I’ve looked at Foster and Smith, petco and petsmart online, and they don’t really have any good ‘deals’, so if you [...]

Dog with Hip Dysplasia.-?

July 15th, 2011

A year ago we adopted a smooth coat Collie from a shelter. We named him Buddy. He’s 1 year old. Inmediately we got pet insurance for him. Yesterday we found out he has hip dysplasia and the vet’s only solution is surgery. The cost for the surgery is ,400.00, which for us is just out [...]

My dogs are allowed on the furniture and whenever say he wakes up from a nap on the bed he’ll put his front paws on the ground first and then stretch his back legs out onto the bed and drag himself off. It sort of looks like he’s waiting for someone to grab his back [...]

I am looking for a new dog for my mothers farm. Because we have lots of small animals, chickens, ducks, and cats, it’s really hard to find a dog breed that will fit in. We already have a beagle and a border collie, and are looking for something new. They are getting older and we [...]

Our small doggie is 12 years old. She is a cross between a Jack Russell and a Collie ( a mongrel in other words!) and she is in perfect health for her age. Okay she is a bit grey round the muzzle , and has the start of a couple of cataracts but her general [...]

Going to visit a litter of beagle pups on Monday and want to know what other beagle owners think. I’d like to hear from anyone who has a beagle and a cat! What are the pro’s and cons of the breed? I have a 4 year old daughter who is going to be over the [...]

well we are moving to a new big house soon and i’ve always wanted a dog. We are going to be in the perfect area to finally get my doggy surrounded by countryside and forests, brilliant for walking and all within 5 miles. But basically, my mum doesn’t want it to be let around all [...]

I live in Wallan, Victoria (Australia) and my family and I have decided to get our first dog. We have seen pet store pups and were interested in a Siberian Husky but they cost 00 at the pet shop. We were thinking of getting either: Siberian Husky, Dalmation or a Airedale Terrier. I’m a school [...]

I have 3 dogs and no one to run with. I’d like to work with one of our dogs and train one to run with. Is there some kind of magic chart available that says what dogs run the best or what needs the dog may have? Hope this question makes sense. LOL. I would [...]

you you train a german collie to be a guard dog ? or are they farm dogs only and if it is possible how?

My four year chocolate lab and red white border collie everytime we come back from the off leash dog park they throw up thier food. I have been adding 4 packets of McCauley’s Hydrolyte which is supposed to be for horses but my vet told me can be used on dogs.

My husband walked my dogs without their harnesses last evening. My Collie mix was pulling hard & now coughs (sounds like a goose honk) after he barks & when being walked with his collar. I took my him to the emergency vet hospital last night & didn’t get any answers. They did rule out kennel [...]

It cant be a austrailian shepard or border collie because they arent big enough to guard livestock from coyotes.

I live in an appartment and I am planning to get a dog. Obviously I shouldnt get a boxer or a collie, but is there a breed that would be ok to live in a fairly small space – an appartment? I am highly considering a English Springer Spaniel. Any thoughts?
