My dog Ginger was diagnosed with a spinal injury due to a fall. I have no insurance for my pet, and was looking into insuring her since the vet bills are expensive. Is there an insurance policy that accepts pre existing injuries, and do they cover everything associated with it, etc: surgery, pharmacy,x rays…

Hip Dysplasia in dogs?

July 14th, 2011

I think my dog may have hip dysplasia. He is a very large breed dog. At 130 pounds how much do you figures x-rays might cost, he would need to be sedated. Also should I walk my dog or will that just hurt him, or would it help him?

Hip dysplasia for dogs.?

I asked this question before too, but I meant, that if the dog does it’s X-Rays at 2 years old and it’s good and above does that mean their Hip Dysplasia free for the rest of their lives? and then if it ranks bad, how much does the surgery costs? (estimate) And is there any [...]

My 3 year old mastiff "Bella" hurt her leg the other day. After the vet’s x-rays came back we discovered that not only had she torn her ACL in her right knee, but that she has severe hip dysplasia in her left hip. The best we can figure, she had relied on her right leg [...]

My rescued Labradoodle has bad hip dysplasia. He shows almost no symptoms. He is 3 years old. I saw his X-rays and the hip is clearly out-of-place and developing arthritis. He weighs about 80 pounds. There are two types of surgeries: One involves hip replacement. The other involves removing the ball of the femur and [...]

Hip dysplasia……..?

December 14th, 2010

I have a female Staffordshire Bull Terrier, almost 2 years old. Lately, I’ve been noticing a slight limp in her step. It’s most noticeable when she’s really tired and has just woke up from a nap. It also tends to happen mostly on days when she has played a lot of fetch or ran a [...]

My new 3 month old puppy (siberian husky mix) that I adopted from the shelter had his first exam yesterday and the vet believes that he has the early signs of hip dysplasia. Anyway, we noticed that he was very skittish and when my husband would try to play with him, he would accidently startle [...]

My dog has hip dysplasia?

August 19th, 2010

Hi, this would not take you more than a minute to read, and I would really appreciate it. I was walking my 2 year old labrador today, and he would stop during the middle of the walk, and lay down for about 15 minutes. I brought him to the vet last time, and they said [...]

This is really annoying, and upsetting. My pug who is 10 months old had had a collapse like four times now every 2-3 months apart. The fourth being last wednesday.. The last two were at similar times of the day between 9-10am. The first two weren’t. They were at 2-3pm and 8-9pm. During the first [...]

I had a 5lb yorkie who passed away a couple months ago, Im still in the grieving process. I am Little confused why the vet I took her to couldn’t figure out why she passed away. She started acting weird after I picked her up from a dog boarding place. I went on a trip [...]

Neck injury to my dog, GSD?

April 10th, 2010

2 weeks ago, my dog (german shepherd, 2 years old) went to bed hurt, she was up a several times and woke up crying. I took her to the vet that day, and he could not find anything wrong with her, prescribed an anti-inflammatory medication. It seemed to work, however when not on it, she [...]

Are heated pet (cat) beds safe?

September 8th, 2009

A vet tech, I think it was, once told me that heated pet beds can be dangerous… My cat, Kali, has cancer. Though I think she’s in a remission stage… (she had breast cancer, and had a radical mastectomy, in a sense, removing all that tissue. It’s been 6 months and it hasn’t returned, though [...]

Last week I picked up a short term18m/o border collie foster who had undiagnosed Avasular necrosis. On intake I was told he was aggressive and failed his temperament test but everybody loved him when he was in a "good mood". I noticed he was guarded and occasionally had a rear limp which seemed to be [...]
