Trained dog poops on the sofa!?!?

Posted November 29th, 2009 by admin

Hey guys I have a rat terrier and chihuahua mix who’s 1 years old, she has not EVER pooped on the couch or bed before and that’s since she was a puppy all the other puppies would do it but not her so she’s been trained to go in the litter box since she was 6 weeks old and we moved about a month ago and now I put her litter box out side and she just scratches or cries at the door and I let her out to handle her buisness RARELY and accidents! Recently she’s een pooping in the hallway! Andi hit her nose (not to hard) and in a firm tone tell her no! And put her in her litter box. Now today she pooped on the couch! She’s never done this a day of her life!!! What could be happening?
Since we moved her she’s been doing a great job but this happend all of a sudden it’s like not normal for her to do this it’s random…

i guess i just cant get past the fact you hit your dog for having an accident.

you just moved. she is not used to this environment and you are punishing her for that.

    some people dont deserve dogs

Clearly she is having problems with the litter box being outside. Put it back inside and your problems should end

Probably has something to do with the move. Maybe when she gets use to the new place, she’ll come around. Just be persistant in your training, GoodLuck!

Dogs get stress and anxiety just like we do. Shes upset because of the change. She will adjust. Its best to make things as close to what she’s used to as you can. And don’t take it out on her.

I have moved my husky recently as well. And when I moved her she was had all sorts of anxiety. She ran upstairs and pooped. And she NEVER messes in the house. It takes a couple of weeks or sometimes even a month for them to fully adjust. You have to be patient. Having a dog is sometimes like having an infant, its not easy and its not supposed to be either.

As for tapping her nose, you really shouldn’t do that when its an accident. Now, if she was chewing her bone and she tried to nip at you for taking it away, thats when you hold her mouth closed and look into her eyes. At-least that works with Husky’s. However, just because you did that does not mean you don’t deserve to have a dog. You obviously care a lot about your dog. Good luck!
