LOL! im talking about stuff in the backyards not from inside the house. if they do break in the house atleast i can hear my dogs barking first.

Hmmm…. dogs are better n more alert when in pack, when its more than 1dog, the pack instinct kicks in making them more assertive n more testing/non fearing, dont know about pits but rotts are good watch dogs, they dont bark much, if ur looking 4 some dog to just alert u, ur better off with a small yapping breed like a spitz/chihuahua/pom etc, they are harmless but at the same time do their duty to alert u by constant barking when they see an intruder. Rottweiler’s are more of silent watchers n when the intruder in in their territory, they pounce, without warning, without barking, n God save anyone who has had a close shave with a rott ferocity.

The best would be an ADT or Brinks security system. Dogs were meant to be pets not alarm systems.

Don’t get a Rottweiler for non professionally trained guarding please?

Too many people expect an untrained dog to be a good guard dog and when they bite someone it makes for bad press and the whole breed takes the hit. It’s just another bullet in the BSL activists corner.

pitbulls are awesome guard dogs. I have one, and I’m thinking about getting another one.

alarms are best lots of times if someone breaks in they shoot the dog anyhow

without training do not get a rottweiler…yes they make superb guards of home and family IF TRAINED…go with the adt security system…

get a ADT or Brinks security system. Dogs were never meant to be alarm systems their our pets to love and enjoy.

I don’t suggest getting a dog just for guarding your house. If you train it just to bark at people it may get overly aggressive and cause problems. But if for a good reason I suggest german shepherds, pitbull, or a blue heeler (cattle dog)

I think its funny but its still true more people are afraid of little dogs then big one I think its because more people are bitten from little dogs then big ones you said you own a pitbull so you have the bite now get bark! (just think about it if a yappy little dog is barking at you and snapping at you, your probably not gonna wanna pet it especially if its name is satan)

    hey
pitbulls are considered to be dangerous so training a pitbull to attack if there is an intruder is not the best idea because lots of things can go wrong. your dog might become aggressive and might attack someone. i don’t know were u live but in australia they are some restrictions to having a pitbull like you have to have them musseld when you take them for a walk and in some city’s they are banned. rottweilers are a bit better there not as aggressive but they can be. my best bet if you are looking for a guard dog is a doberman. they are loyal and naturaly good guard dogs.

    hope that helps, Brianna.

    I completely agree with bonzie.
They want affection, not to be neglected and used as security systems.
