What are the best Guard dogs?

Posted September 2nd, 2010 by admin

What are the best guard dogs? They need to be good with other dogs in my household.
By the way they have to be a medium sized dog (25-55) lbs.

    Any dog that has been trained for that purpose, obviously physical limitations will mean some breeds are more suited to guarding than others.

    All dogs are pack-animals and you have to be the pack-leader without ever hitting or abusing your animals. If raised/done correctly, you will never have a problem.

    Any dog can and will get along with other dogs if raised correctly. Any dog will protect their respected pack-leader if raised correctly.

    There are breeds that excel at this, though.

    ( Not in order. )

    * Dogo Argentino.
    * American Bulldog.
    * English Mastiff.
    * Bullmastiff.
    * French Mastiff.
    * Rottweiler.
    * Doberman Pinscher.
    * German Shepherd.
    - Most any Molosser/Mastiff/Bully breed is great at this, including the breeds listed above.
    There are many, many more breeds than just the ones listed above.

    You shouldn’t get a dog based on one thing such as guarding, though. You should really research the respected breeds and then make your final decision.

    ( Any and all dogs will protect. )
    An alarm can be disarmed in less then a minute, a dog can’t ….
