Neuman now growls and air naps @ other two dogs (Jerry age 13 and Comet age 6) when we are all in bed together, sitting on couch or when he is on dog bed (which is not located right next to couch) and other two dogs are sitting with me. He doesn’t growl or exhibit alpha when I give them snacks. I can’t have Neuman be the only one that sleeps with me because Jerry became depressed when a dog died last May & I don’t make when sleep by himself. Neuman likes going outside, so he doesn’t have to be around me 24/7. I’ve talked to him about needing to let Jerry stay around me, sometimes letting only Jerry sleep with me. Any ideas?

Neuman wants the bed to himself.
If it were me I would toss him off the bed until he can behave. No bed priveleges for a dog who is resource guarding.
And it has nothing to do with "alpha" that is a modern day myth. Neuman is simply being a bed hog so until he learns that the only way he will be allowed back on the bed is to behave he needs to stay off.

You need to watch The Dog Whisperer show, with Cesar Milan. Your dog is becoming the pack leader and you are loosing ground.

    Kramer…..is that you?
Ask Elaine if Jerry can sleep with her. Maybe that will solve your problem. Or you could just give Neuman a twinkie. ;-)

he may not like to be bothered he may be getting really old and not want too many animals around him just watch him and if he growls then tell him no and smack him on the head.

He’s resource guarding and telling the others to STAY AWAY- IT’s MINE!
You should correct him because it is yours not his.
