Why would a dog carry feces around?

Posted April 8th, 2010 by admin

We recently adopted a senior dog who has perhaps the most bizarre habit I’ve ever seen in a canine! If one of the dogs (we have one other) eliminates, she will pick it up and carry it off — sometimes to her bed, sometimes just across the room. On at least one occasion I think she may actually have eaten some, but overall it doesn’t seem to be that she’s eating it — she just carries it off.

What could this possibly mean? I’ve read that dogs who eat feces may be lacking nutrients, and usually comes from cheap, generic food, but we feed our dogs high-quality purina pro-plan and science diet. So what on earth should I make of this??

hehe! Well it could be territorial behaviour. Or she just wants to help cleen up! I think its just one of the natural sides of a dog that they would do in the wild. Dont change the diet its fine already.

Maybe she’s very territorial and doesn’t like others in her space.
